Willowspring Polled Herefords. Est. 1990

The stud was founded in 1990 with the purchase of three females from Graham & Grace Hosking’s Branston Stud. The following year we purchased another seven heifers from Branston and a bull from Freelance by Freelance Mask, a 452M son.

In 1997 we purchased females from Freelance’s dispersal, concentrating on 452M bloodlines. We purchased privately Freelance Twiggy J130, a Donor Female. Females have been added over the years from, Ngarewa, Harbour Hills, Kiwi, Hukaroa and Maungahina. Currently running approximately 30 Stud cows, and supporting stock.

Sires used by ET & AI over the years have been:- Beartooth Buttler 452M, Kilmorlie Deliverance 80U, Davis Prime Rate, Remittal Boomer, NJW Vaquero, Gold N Raiders Edge and Leelands Transition.
Herd sires include: Maungahina Danzero V117, Maungahina Dr Grace V119 and our latest purchase, Leelands Aquisition 619.

In 2003 we relocated from Waiuku to Otorohanga and are currently developing the property. In 2004 we started having a 2 year old Winter Bull Sale held in conjunction with Strathmoor at the Te Kuiti Selling Complex.
In 2011 we decided to sell our 2 year bulls by private treaty on farm, this has proved to be very successful.

We are Keen supporters of the show circuit, traveling as far north as Whangarei and south to Palmerston North.

2015 – Nick gained a Cadetship at Otiwhiti Station – Land Based Training Agricultural School.

2017 – After 18mths in the paddock on stud duty and Rising 4yrs Willowspring Attorney 481 was Judged All Breeds Supreme Champion at the 150th Jubilee Warkworth A & P Show. Attorney 481 continues to marks his  influence in the stud. However with his females now becoming more prominent in the herd, his retirement from Stud is imminent.
